For those who have developed a desire for a certain matter, it can do no harm to reflect from time to time on how this desire developed and where it will take you in the future. We humans tend to assess our environment in light of our own knowledge and judge accordingly. This often leads to confrontations, because the people around us have different opinions and values than we do. However, by rejecting the views of others over time, it becomes more difficult to respect them, because for this to happen, one would have to recognise that other people have different viewpoints than oneself, and also try to value them accordingly.
Since the view of reality consists partly of one’s own thoughts, one can also change this view through one’s own will over a longer period of time. Through changed interests, new bases of experience arise, which in turn offer new perspectives. This sounds utopian at first, but it becomes more understandable when you think about people who get into situations where they have to choose between different views in order to get forward.
